How did I celebrate Halloween?

I Remember when I was a child I used to have a costume every year, and at night I went trick or treating with my mother, my father and my cousins.  My brother told me that one year it was wonderful because my uncle had a clown costume, but I don’t remember because I was a baby. My uncle is crazy. He sang with us and ate a lot of candies.
I had a chilindrina, a mouse, a princess, a doll, and an indian costume, but I remember one in especial. It was more or less 9 years old. My mother came home, and brought my a very ugly costume. It was wan one Egyptian, and I paint my eyes. I didn’t like it. It was my worst costume because I was very ugly and finally she took a picture of me whit sponge bob.
Now I wear a costume every year, and I go to the party with my boyfriend and my friends. We dance, drink, eat, and it’s a good night.
This year in my house, I´m going to have a halloween party .everyone is going to wear a costume, and the best will be the winner . the gift a surprise.

I´m going to wear a batichica  costume , and my boyfriend is going to wear a batman costume. We´re going to dace, eat, drink and celebrate halloween

My Birthday (Lina Marquez V)

How did I celebrate my birthdays?

When I was a little girl, I used to celebrate my birthdays with my classmates and my family. We used to eat ice creaam and junk food, and play hide and seek. When the party was over, I used to open all my presents and play with my dolls. My favorite was the fifteenth birthday because my parents gave me a trip to USA.

Nowadays, I celebrate my birthday with my friends and my family. We go to the cinema in the afternoon and at night, we go to a restaruant and have a lot of fun, eat cake and sing happy birthday, and sometimes we get drinks and dance all night.

On my next birthday, I'm going to have a party with all my friends and I'm going to travel arround the world to celebrate my birthday with my sister and my cousin.

MY BIRTHDAY (DIEGO HURTADO)

MY BIRTHDAY

When I was ten, I invited some school friends to my house to eat a delicious cake with my parents and my sister. Then I played some table games. That moment was very fun. When we finished the game, my friends returned to their houses, and I went to eat with my parents and my sister to a restaurant.
There, they gave a spectacular gift to me.

Nowadays, I don´t invite friends to my birthday. I prefer to invite all my family to eat a cake, and sing happy birthday. And maybe, I go to a shopping center to eat ice cream with my cousins. At night I go with my family to my favorite restaurant “El Rancherito”, and there maybe, I drink a beer with my father.

On my next birthday, I´m going to Rionegro to go to a shopping center with some cousins to watch a movie, and then eat ice cream. When I return to Medellin, I´m going to go to my grandmother´s, and there I´m going to eat a cake with my parents and my sister.

Happy Birthday! Sara María Muñoz

Christmas

Christmas
When I was a child, people used to celebrate Christmas in family. They shared gifts, had special dinner, dance, and drank liquor.  All the block people joined themselves to kill pork and made a barbecue. The next day people kept danced, drank and prepared a lot of food in the streets. All the streets were decorated with lights and burned life-size dummies, at the midnight people threw fireworks and huge their families. All was happy and beautiful, they were beautiful times.

Now, people don’t share in family and the Christmas spirit is lost. There are less Christmas light than before. Blocks are already alone because people prefer to travel to another town to celebrate with unknown people. The old customs are totally lost. People are colder than before. Children prefer internet and smartphones, and they don’t like to share with family. The gifts for the children are not like an other times. Now they know who give the gifts, in other times children believed in “Jesus boy”

In the future, December is going to be like an another common month. There won’t be any kind of celebration, any kind of Christmas light, any kind of Christmas tree, any kind of fireworks. It’s going to be a sad day for people who celebrated a happy Christmas. Technology is going to create lonely people. Technology will be more important than family, and the street rules will be exaggerated, and whatever thing will be illegal. We’ll can do nothing in the street, things like barbecues, parties, bonfires, and things like that.

MY HAPPY BIRTHDAY

 MY HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!

When I was little, my parent’s celebrated my birthday and it was very funny. My mom, my dad and my brother bought me many gifts. I remember when I was five years old. My parents threw a party at my school with all my friends. That day was very happy. My teacher suspended the activities in the afternoon, and they sang happy birthday for me. My cake was huge. My parents bought ice cream, crackers, candy and gifts for my friends, but when I turned fifteen years old, I only shared with my mom, my brother and two friends. That day, I didn’t want anything because I missed my dad. The following day my brother had a surprise for me. He prepared dinner with my friends, my mom, and my cousins Laura and Simon.
Generally in my birthday, my mother and my aunt always buy cake and gifts for me, and we eat the lunch in family. I like to go on a picnic or go to farm, and prepare a meal with my friends. I also like to take coffee with them, and talk and laugh.
This year, on August 4th, I tuned twenty three. I went my friends from Amalfi to a party.
We shared, danced and sang. The best thing was that we always share twice a year and just this time I was in my birthday. My birthday was sad for us because   on Sunday one of my friends died.
For my next birthday, I’d like to travel with my cousin or my friends, or I hope to go diving. That makes me really happy. I’m  also going to visit  my mom and my dad and then I’m going to eat in a good restaurant with my aunt and my cousin. That, we’re going to visit my brother. He prepares mojito for us.

MY BIRTHDAYS

On my seventeenth birthday my classmates from school sang "Happy birthday" to me and then, we went to eat ice cream. At night, some friends and my family sang "Happy birthday” again and I blew out the candles. We ate cake, nachos and stuff. Then I opened the gifts they gave me and later my friends and I went to the house of a classmate and danced until midnight.

Now, I celebrate my birthday with my family and friends. At night they come to my house. They sing “Happy birthday” and I blow out the candles. I open the gifts that they give me like clothes, shoes, money, and watches.
We eat the cake and ice cream and my father cooks for us. We listen to music and later we go out to a club and dance all night.

On my next birthday, I am going to travel to Miami with my family. We are going to visit my niece. My family is going to sing me “Happy birthday”. They are going to buy a delicious dinner.  I am going to buy clothes, shoes, purses and things. Then I am going to relax the beach, and I am going to go to the spa. Then we are going to travel to Ohio where my aunt lives and we are going to share Thanksgiving Day.

MARIA CAMILA HENAO SÁNCHEZ
ON HALLOWEEN

IN THE PAST

When I was a baby, my first costume was Minnie mouse. When I was 3 years old my costume was a doll. Then when I was 4 years old it was a nun. The following year it was a pink power ranger that was the better that I had, and when I was 6 years old my mom bought me a pumpkin costume. She made me wear these, and I didn´t like it. My mom, my brother, my cousins, other family and I went trick-or-treating to a mall. I felt very ashamed because my costume was orange and green. It was terrible and very ugly. This experience was the worst for me. It is something that I never forget and I didn’t get much candy.

 NOWADAYS

I’m 23 years old and in these last years. I never wear costumes. I don´t like it. Now I go with my friends to go trick-or-treating and at night I have many candies of different forms and flavors. Sometimes I go with all my friends to parties in his houses or in a disco. We have a great time, we drink, we dance and we have a BBQ. For me on Halloween isn´t the same that in the past when I was a child. Right now I think it is better.

IN THE FUTURE
I think everything could change. The people will be different. They will wear strange costumes. I believe I never gong to wear a costume. I´m going to wear funny clothes. Always I’m going to stay with my friends and sometimes with my family in this day because I enjoy a lot of with them. On October 31th always you will find crazy and funny things and people.

MY FIRST COMMUNION

When I was eleven years old, I received for first time my communion. My hair was curled, and I wore a loNng white dress.  This beautiful dress was the same for all the girls of the school “La Inmaculada”. There I decided to do this event.
Later of the celebration in the school´s chapel, my parents organized me a reception with my family in a salon. Everything was very beautiful with floral arrangement on tables, and other white ornaments. All of my family were there and they gave me many presents like watches, pyjamas, blouses, board games, jeans, and other things.
Next day, my parents made me a party with all of my friends in Jeno´s pizza. It was very exciting because we played in the games that were there all day. We ate lot of pizza, some of ice cream, and cake.
Like presents of the party my parents gave pretty watches to all my friends and to me too. This watch was green and I liked it a lot.
I have a good memory about my first communion because my parents gave me everything that I wanted, a good party with people that I loved.

My surpise party.

When I was about to turn sixteen years old. I remember that my mom decided to give me a surprise party to celebrate my birthday. I didn’t want anything special for that day, but my friends called to my mom and they proposed making my birthday party. I really don’t like the surprise party, but this party was the best. I will never forget that this day I was studying. When I finished my classes, my dad come to my high school and he invited me to eat ice cream. While at home, my friends and my mother were preparing the great party. When I arrived at home I didn’t expect to see my friends and my family. I was so excited and so happy that I began to cry. My friends and I sang and danced to the Christina Aguilera’s music no, wait Shakira’s music and much more. My mom prepared a delicious dinner and then "LA 45” band given me an intimate concert. We screamed because it was our favorite band. It was late and only stayed in home, my mom, my brothers, and I. I will never forget this event and thank my mother who gave me joy to be with people that I love. It was a wonderful party.

My  Birthday

My Birthday is a very special day.
I wake up very early in the morning like any other day. Usually for this day, I like to use for the first time new clothes. A pant, a shirt, socks, and shoes.
In the morning, I go to work at the office or I go to study at the University.
At noon, my father always invites me to have lunch at an important restaurant in the city. Generally, I ordered fish because I like fish, and I don't eat fish hardly ever.
In the afternoon, I go back to work or to study. I receive many calls from my family and my friends. They congratulated me for my birthday.
A week before, I bake a cake called 'bizcocho de novia'. I put it wine during that week to make it consistent, and have it a good flavor.
At the end of the afternoon, I chop the cake. And I eat it with my family.
At night, I go out with my girlfriend or my friends to eat ice cream.
At eleven p.m. o'clock, I put my new pajamas. I'm going to bed, and I sleep until the next day.

My graduation
By Agustín Santos Velásquez

When i was about 17 years old. I had my highschool graduation. I remember that day like one of the best of my life. My parents were proud of me because around all highschool year. I had many difficulties, but I overcame and that’s why I had never seen so proud. Also, I remember all my friends of the highschool, but I remember especially two of them Andres and Jose David. They were always leaning me, and help me in my homeworks or others things.
Now, about the party after the graduation. I remember we went to Roldan’s bar with some friends, and that party was great. We drank “Aguardiente”, and “Michelada”. Also, the Roldan’s mother did us a great food, and we ate “Bandeja Paisa”. Then, one of my friends Cristina. She was vomiting around two minuts, and that was funny because the face that she did was wear and very funny. Finally, I remember the kiss of Andres and Sara, and she never remember that kiss. We were celebrating our graduation until 6:00 a.m to the next day, and that is all. That is one of my best celebration that I had until now, but I know that will many more of that’s celebrations.

My fifteen birthday by Juliana Arenas

When I was a child I always dreamed with a fifteen party. When the day was close I began to prepare everything that I wanted. My parents had experience in “fifteen” parties because my sister had a reception too some years before me. That’s why they knew all that I needed. We did all the preparations: we found a dress, a special social hall, decoration, food, photographers, dj and invitations. Finally the day arrived. My mother, my sister and I went to the hairdressing saloon all the morning and afternoon until the stylist did us all that we wanted:  hairstyles, makeup, masks and did our nails. I began to feel scared because I will be the spotlight but I was excited too. When my parents, my sister and I were in the social hall, which was spectacular. The photographer took a lot of photos for the album but we had to be fast because all the guests were coming and I needed to hide. Most of the guests had arrived and my mom said me that it was the time to go out and I was very nervous because all my family and my friends would be there, but I felt like a princess. Then I went downstairs. All the guests were looking at me and I was very ashamed. The vals began to sing and my father was waiting for me downstairs and we began dancing. Lately it was the toast and when the ceremony got over I could be with my family and friends for celebrate my birthday with the best party I have ever had.

Christmas Day-Ana Maria Rodas

It is the history about the Christmas Day in 1992. I was 6 years old. This year, my brother and I wrote a letter for the Baby Jesus and we thanked him by all the blessings: the family, the friends, the health and the food. Also in this letter we requested a video game console. My parents said us that maybe the Niño Dios couldn´t give us the console because it was very expensive. On December 24th, we went to my grandmother’s house. There were all my family: uncles, aunts and cousins. My uncle Eduardo dressed up and did a show to all the family. The costume was about a woman. We ate a delicious food that my grandmother cooked all day. At 11pm I sleep because I was tired On December 25th I woke up at morning very early, at 5 o’clock. Immediately, I woke up and I saw a big box for me. When I opened it was a video game console. I was so happy, and all my cousins were excited for that. It was the best console. We played all day. In that time, we used to play Mario Bross. From this time, Mario Bross is my favorite video game. I remember a lot this history because meaning the hope and the illusion that I had about the Niño Dios and the familiar traditions.

THE CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS IN MY CHILDHOOD By: Beatriz Helena González Gómez I don’t remember many things about my childhood. I lived my early days in Santuario, we were three women and six men (my older brother passed away) and my parents didn’t have much money for celebrations; therefore, in my house we didn’t celebrate a lot. However, the holidays on Christmas were unforgettable. I enjoyed greatly the Christmas preparations, but the most important thing for me was making the manger. All my siblings went to the country side to pick up moss and other plants for the manger. It was a fabulous event because everyone had to do something. My older brother was the organizer. The manger was made, in every house and children from the neighborhood came to pray. Those days were very special because we were given candies and gifts. My sister and I sang Christmas Carol in every house and we did it very well. On December 24th everyone in my family received a gift. The following day, every children from the neighborhood got out from their houses to enjoy their toys and show them to their friends. Today, when I think about that stage of my life, I feel homesickness because we shared many things with friends and relatives quietly. Now the Christmas holidays are very different: a lot of liquor, too much noise, little prayer and people don’t share with the family. We have lost the true essence of Christmas and I’m so sad.
Isabel Cristina Puerta Chica English class My First Communion In order to get ready for my first communion. My mom bought me a pink dress, stockings, and white shoes, a crown of small white and pink little flowers. It was on December 1979; when I had to go to the church with my parents and siblings for my communion. Because I received the communion for the first time. My parents made a party at home the guests were all friends in the neighborhood. My sister decorated the house with balloons and streamers. Put white tablecloths, and plenty of chairs around the room; and even a aunt made a cake. The party consisted of small distributing toys to the guests, cake and soda. At the end of the party, we all played a game called from the pot, which it was a thin cardboard box filled with candies and surprises. The adults were given chicken, rice, salad, and soda. My father took a lot of pictures of all my friends, neighbors and family. My friends gave me a lot gifts, pajamas, lotteries, dresses, shirts and rings. My uncles and aunts gave me money. My parents gave me a bouquet of orchids with a beautiful card. I really enjoyed the party with my friends and cousins. I will never forget this date because is part of my religion, and also part of my life. I still have the photo album, with all the cards from my friends and family. Teacher Juan Manuel Montoya.

Clara Isabel Londoño

Clara Isabel Londoño Puerta My best memorie when I was a child was my first communion. I was nine years old and I was in the elementary school. The preparation for my first communion was in the school. When I finished the classes on the morning a nun teached us prayers and other things. I remember that the day before to the first communion we was with the parson confessing the sins. I was very nervous and the previous night I can`t sleep well. The day of the ceremony I was wearing a beautiful long white dress and I was wearing on my head a crown of flowers. The ceremony was in my school with my classmates. In the church were the classmate`s parents, teachers and my parents too. When the parson gave us the first hos I was very excited. Then, my mother organized the party. She made beautiful ornaments with balloons and she cooked something delicious. In the celebration were my family and some friends. My family and my friends gave me many gifts: t-shirts, shoes, jeans and money. One of my uncles gave me a TV and my father gave me a pair of beautiful earings. I was very happy because I had a great time.
